Aluminum Ring, Coiled Snake c1880
An antique aluminium ring in the form of a coiled snake. This is an scarce, very desirable example of jewelry made in a century in which, for the most part, aluminum was more popular than gold. Aluminum was discovered in 1825. It reached its apex in jewelry making c1860. Examples dating back to c1860-70 are just about impossible to find. Jewelry dating to the 1880s, when this ring was made, is almost as difficult to come across.
Our ring is in lovely condition, with the aluminum displaying a rich patina. All original; easy and fun to wear. US ring size 6, UK ring size M, Japanese ring size 12. USPS shipping to your USA address is free, compliments of us.
