David Andersen Butterfly in Sterling Silver & Enamel c1960
Simple, yet magnificent. A butterfly of sterling silver with her wings a glowing, creamy white enamel. Her thorax, abdomen and head are painted in black and her head has tiny eyes. Tiny though they may be, each eye is meticulously outlined in silver. The positioning of her wings (they lift slightly) and the curve of her antennae are iconic to the graceful design for which David Andersen is renown. The outline of her front wing against her back wing resembles outstretched arms, as if this butterfly were a goddess greeting her people. The back is signed with the proper David Andersen signature, indicating that this pin was made c1960. So beautiful, and highly collectible. This butterly will be delivered to you in a gift box. The brooch is 2-1/4" X 1-1/4".
