Early American Windsor Cricket in Paint c1815

  • Product Info

This American windsor cricket has been invaluable here at Home Farm. I have used it beside chairs as a small stand for drinks and books, on table tops for displaying anything from miniature baskets to fresh cut flowers in mason jars to bowls of food at our party buffets. It's a handsome cricket with a folk art feel and a fine show of correct age and wear patterns. A period American Windsor piece, its handsomely turned legs are wedged in place in the manner of early Windsor chair legs. Painted line decorative edging to the seat shows a primitive elegance. The dry painted surface is original. 14” X 8 ½” X 9 ¾” .

The bench stands sturdily, although there is a thin crack to the seat and one leg. The bench would not take the full weight of an adult sitting or stepping on it, but it works beautifully as a low side table or a display piece. The as-found condition is reflected in our low price for this wonderful, early American vernacular painted stool.
