Folk Painted Stand ca Mid-19th Century
An early table with impeccable proportions and marvelous paint. The table dates to c1840-60 while the paint came later, most likely in the 2nd quarter 20th century. The painted detail reflects folk painting described in Sumpter Priddy's definitive book on historic folk art, American Fancy.
The stand is hard wood with delicately turned legs. All is in remarkably fine condition. The paint has strong color in its mustard tone, and would go beautifully with a Shaker chrome yellow piece.
