    This handsome book was written and illustrated by leading American Modernist artist, writer and adventurer Rockwell Kent (1882 – 1971).   Hard cover with original dust cover.  1st Edition copyright 1930.  An illustrated travel narrative of the author's voyage in a small boat that sailed from New York Harbor and was shipwrecked in Greenland. The book is Illustrated with outstanding  wood block prints of which Kent wrote,  "(the wood blocks)... are less illustrative of the text than supplementary to it."   In very fine condition with some anticipated wear along the edges of the dust cover.  Pages are clean and without a flaw.  Ex-collection, a large, private collection in the Mid-Hudson Valley of NYS. 

    Rockwell Kent was America’s premier "artist of the sea" (quote Richard Davies review for AbeBooks) throughout the 1940s.    His book, N by E, has been referred to as ...
