Hiawatha ~ Sterling Silver Hat Pin c1890s

  • Details

Made in tribute to Longfellow's poem The Song of Hiawatha, finished in 1855.   This stunning hatpin is an early one, dating to c1880-1900, prior to the time the pin shafts of hat pins were shortened, reflecting shorter haircuts on women.  It is marked for sterling and the workmanship is excellent.  The pin in entirety measures a shade of 9 1/2". The head measures about 1 3/8" tall. The shaft has a couple of minor bends that don't detract in any way.  It's a handsome hatpin that would enhance a variety of hat styles.  Questions?  Email anytime.
