Traditional Victorian 9kt Gold Buckle Ring c1890
A handsome, substantial example of the traditional English buckle ring. Made of gold that is richly yellow. It is in outstanding condition and anxious to be loved and worn once again. Dating to c1890, the buckle shows beautifully on the ring with fine detail. All original and clearly displays the English hallmark for Chester 1890. The buckle style dates from c1838, after the young Queen Victoria ascended the throne. She visited her armies in Scotland and was completely taken with the buckle bands they wore as part of their uniforms. Upon returning to England, Queen Victoria had jewelry designed for herself and family members with that same buckle motif.
