Filet Lace Panels w/Cherubs, Urn and Fruit c1915
Two beautiful panels of antique filet lace, dating to c1915. Both have the same pattern ~ a cupid to either side of a fancy pedestaled urn. Both panels are clean with no discolor, no age spots. They have been stored properly. One looks as if it were never used. The other has slight damage to one short side, as if it got caught on something and pulled apart. Visible in our photos.
From the estate of international opera soprano of the late Victorian period, Madame Marcella Sembrich (1858-1935). Mme Sembrich had an important international singing career as coloratura soprano, mainly with the NY Metropolitan Opera and London’s Royal Opera House.
Each panel is 23” X 13”. How beautiful they would look over the rich silk velvet of two large pillows. The lace is lovely enough to be framed and put on your wall.
