SOLD * A beautiful antique chatelaine scissors case dating to the Art Nouveau period c1895. The case has its original hanging chain with its ring. Unmarked, professionally tested for sterling silver and in lovely condition. Exquisite workmanship in a lavish design on the case. A shade over 2 3/4" long. Silver hanging chain 5 1/2" long end to end. Included are the sterling silver sewing scissors with which the case came to me. Not the original pair. These scissors are marked 925 for sterling. That particular mark was not used until mid-20th century, so these are Victorian Revival sewing scissors, and they get along very nicely with the Victorian case. The scissors also have a similar opulent Art Nouveau styled pattern worked in the silver. 2 3/4" long. Condition is excellent. A gentle polish would bring both the case and the scissors back to their original shine. I don't as a practice polish silver, as there are many who prefer it with the rich patina earned over the years.
